Explosive Detection Dog Handler Course
Course Details
Dog Detectives has specifically designed and tailored an Explosive Detection Dog Handler course that whilst follows industry standards such as NASDU it also adds our own industry expertise and topics.
Dog Detectives has delivered this course worldwide to many of our overseas clients and now is time for us to use our knowledge and pass it on to aspiring handlers and trainers in the UK.
Topics include –
- Canine health and welfare
- Prior deployment and operational awareness
- Search patterns
- The foundations of training a Detection Dog
- Operant conditioning in Detection Dogs including marking behaviours using a clicker
- Scent awareness
- IED awareness
Instructors
For each course dates a nominated experienced Instructor will be assigned to the course (identification of this person is made available upon date announcement, so unlike most other courses currently available in the market with ours you are able to select the Instructor who tutors you), additional overseas Guest Instructors will deliver presentations on selected topics and unlike most other companies we offer the ability for attendees to view and train with experienced instructors and trainers onsite throughout the entire course.
Duration
Whilst industry guidelines state that a minimum of 150 hours should be included in training our Explosive Detection Dog Handler Course exceeds this with the additional topics included.
We have composed a course of 26 days including additional ‘homework’ and self-learning hours.
The course is split into 2 modules of 13 days each, both modules must be completed to receive your NASDU and Dog Detectives certificates
